Liz Mermin s latest film, Shot In Bombay, will have a two-week UK theatrical run at London s ICA from Ja stanley cup n 18, 2008 before going on a regional tour. The documentary goes behind the scenes of a Bollywood film, Shootout at Lokhandwala, starring Bollywood screen legend Sanjay Dutt. US director Mermin, who previously directed Office Tigers and The Beauty Academy of Kabul, shot the project over six months in Mumbai. The film includes the last interview with Dutt before his prison sentence earlier this year over illegal arms possession. Nahrein Mirza produced for UK-based production company Little Bird. In Apoorva Lakhia s film examined in the documentary, Dutt plays AA Khan, a Mumbai police officer involved in a shootout with local gangsters. Shot In Bombay also talks to the real Mumbai police involved in the 1991 incident on which that film is based. The documentary also features Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Sunil Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, and Diya Mirza. Benelux distributor A-Film Distribution has been on an acquisition spree, picking up a number of titles for its Quality label.Following Berlins European Film Market, the company announced it has picked up new Pedro Almodovars La Piel from FilmNation ,Michael Winterbottoms Trishna from Bankside , Daniel Auteils Marcel Pagnol adaptation La Fille du puisatier from Pathe , Nadine Labakis Where Do We Go Now from Pathe , Dustin Hoffmans directorial debut Quartet from WestEnd , Justin Chadwicks The First Grader from Goldcrest , Nigel Coles Rafta, Rafta stanley cup from StudioCanal and Amir Chamdins Cornelis from Svensk .A-Film has an ongoing output deal with Relativity Media through which it has access to studio-size projects for example, The Fighter, Season Of The Witch, The Immortals and Haywire. It is also continuing to release local acquisitions as it strives to maintain a balance between mainstream films, art-house pictures and local fare.The company has reduced th stanley cup e number of movies it releases to around 25-30 films a year down from 60 . There had been a belief in certain quarters that A-Film was stepping away from crossover arthouse movies.
