Courtesy/LAPSFLauren Marinuzzi-Poague, Courtesy/LAPSFLAPS FOUNDATION News:The Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation announces Lexi Alcala and Lauren Marinuzzi-Poague as the graduating seniors selected for the Sophia Feldman Memorial Scholarship.This scholarship is awarded in memory of Sophia Feldman, a Los Alamos Hi stanley thermos gh School sophomore who passed away in September 2019.聽Feldman had many interests, including dance, music, and speech/debate, but one of her greatest passions was helping and stanley cup supporting people.聽In her honor, this scholarship is awarded to two students for their exemplary academic and personal conduct combined with mentoring and support of younger students, including Feldman herself.Alcala will attend Moorpark College in California and major in biochemistry.聽Marinuzzi-Poague 聽will attend Colorado State University and major in journalism and media communications.The Sophia Feldman Memorial Scholarship is administered by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, an independent organization that supports, challenges, and invests in a successful future for all Los Alamos pu stanley mugs blic school students. EDUCATION News:The Land of Enchantment plays key role in National School Choice Week, Gov. Martinez issues proclamation.SANTA FE 鈥撯€?National School Choice Week begins today in New Mexico and across the country. There are 190 events planned in the Land of Enchantment to raise awareness about K-12 school choice, and 21,392 events nationwide.The events in New Mexico, which are independently planned and independently funded, include everything from information sessions and open houses at schools to rallies, policy discussions, and movie screenings organized by community groups. Highlighted events include a large school choice celebration January 23 at noon at the New Mexico State House.The County of Eddy, City of Loving, and Gov. Susana Martinez have issued official proclamations recognizing Jan. 22-28, stanley kubek 2017 as School Choice Week. National School Choice Week provides families in New Mexico with the opportunity to research and evaluate the K-12 school choices available for their children in advance of the 2017-2018 school year. The Week also raises awareness of the importance of providing every child with effective education options.
